Set up IMAP / SMTP

A classic mailbox with username and password. On save, inboxmcp connects once via IMAP and SMTP to verify the credentials — only then is the mailbox stored. If the check fails, nothing is saved.

Required information​

  • IMAP server, port (typically 993, SSL/TLS)
  • SMTP server, port (typically 587 with STARTTLS)
  • Username and password

For the providers listed under "Presets" you can simply pick the preset; the server fields get populated automatically.

Presets available for​

mailbox.org · IONOS · STRATO · Posteo. For every other provider (GMX, web.de, Plesk-hosted mailboxes, your own mail server, …) pick "Other" and fill in the server details manually.

Security​

Credentials are encrypted with an asymmetric envelope scheme before they're stored; recovery from outside is technically impossible. Plaintext passwords are never logged. Details under Security & privacy.
